Every now and again, I will receive an email from an acquaintance I made in my collegiate years.  Being an art major, this person will send out an email to many, many people asking questions on a topic/issue she will soon be pursuing artistically.  To be honest, I don’t typically respond.  However, I received an email from said person.  The topic to be tackled was “dissatisfaction”—pointedly, “what leaves you dissatisfied?”

I responded.  I gave the cliché (b/c it is very true) response of “things that I grow tired of after having anticipated them greatly”.  I quickly moved on to the subject of ‘virtuality’, b/c (a) I struggle with it and (b) I think it is an 800-pound gorilla sitting in the corner of society’s living room.Read more
